Thanh Hoa is Vietnam's third most populous province and is called "the bridge between the north and the center." With a vast area, it has diverse terrain ranging from coastal plains to mountains. Agriculture is the foundation of its economy, and it is a major producer of rice and sugarcane.
It is home to the large-scale plantations of the Lam Son Sugarcane Group (part of TTC Sugar), an important hub of Vietnam's sugar industry.
Features of agriculture
Rice farming on the coastal plains and sugarcane cultivation inland are the two main forms of agriculture. Rubber is also grown, making it an unusual rubber-producing area for the north. Shrimp farming (around Sam Son Beach) has also grown in recent years.
Main agricultural products
Rice, sugarcane (Lam Son Sugar), rubber, shrimp farming, corn, cassava, pigs and chickens
