Overview
Hoa Binh Province is located about 75 km west of Hanoi and is known for one of Vietnam's largest dams (the Hoa Binh Dam). A mountainous province where many Muong people live, the Mai Chau district is popular as a tourist area with the traditional culture of ethnic minorities and beautiful terraced-field scenery.
The orange of the Cao Phong district (cam Cao Phong) has made a name for itself nationwide as the 'most delicious orange in Vietnam' and has also obtained GI registration.
Features of agriculture
The Cao Phong orange is the flagship product of Hoa Binh Province's agriculture. Grown on hills at an altitude of 300 to 500 m, it is characterized by its strong sweetness and abundant juice. The cultivation area is about 3,000 hectares and expanding.
In addition, sugarcane (in the central plains), glutinous rice (a traditional Muong variety), bamboo and bamboo shoots, and fish farming (freshwater fish farming in the dam lake) are also important agricultural products.
