About 400 kg of white-flesh dragon fruit delivered for the first time to Vietnam Airlines' in-flight service
The Hoa Le cooperative delivered about 400 kg of white-flesh dragon fruit to Vietnam Airlines' domestic routes for the first time. The basis the cooperative uses for in-flight supply was test results meeting export standards for markets such as Japan, Australia, and South Korea. We lay this out together with a supply scale said to reach 5,000 tonnes a year. -

US Section 301 tariff of 12.5%: why Vietnamese shrimp seeks a way out in Japan
From July 24, the United States imposed an additional 12.5% on Vietnamese seafood. The 2.5-point gap with Ecuadorian players is eroding the profitability of Vietnamese shrimp in the US market. We unpack, from a Japanese sourcing perspective, the flat US$890 million in first-half exports to the United States, the 48% last-minute surge in June, the shift to processing, and the realignment of supply to Japan. -

Exports up 30% yet wholesale prices halve in China: the paradox of Vietnamese durian and market diversification
Vietnam's durian exports reached about US$1.8 billion in January–July 2026 (roughly 270 billion yen, a rough estimate at about 150 yen to 1 USD), some 30% above the same period a year earlier. Even as volume grows, wholesale prices at the Chinese border have fallen to nearly half for some varieties. This paradox, in which the unit price sinks the more volume rises, is, toward China... -

Pineapple wholesale prices at a record high; DOVECO's contract cultivation overcomes the crash
The wholesale price of pineapple in north-central Vietnam has hit a record high of 19 million dong per tonne. We unpack DOVECO's contract farming, which absorbed the April-May price crash through floor-price guarantees and flowering adjustment, from a Japanese sourcing perspective. -

A Thai Nguyen party-branch secretary leads with 3 hectares of green bamboo; his family earns 450 million dong a year from bamboo shoots
In the Dong Dat hamlet of Phu Luong district, Thai Nguyen province, the party-branch secretary Duong planted 3 hectares of green bamboo first, and his family now earns 450 million dong a year from bamboo shoots. We interpret the village-wide move to organized production and the order of its spread from a Japanese sourcing perspective. -

An everbearing lime yields 20 tonnes year-round: a former pig farmer in Lao Cai opens up acidic citrus
A former pig farmer in Lao Cai province grows 3 hectares of everbearing lime year-round, harvesting 20 tonnes and just under about 200 million dong a year. We read what a year-round-fruiting acidic citrus shows for Japanese beverage and food sourcing in the seasons when domestic sudachi and kabosu rest. -

A company buys up all 15 tonnes of sweet corn born from the poor land of the Lao Cai border
On 2 ha of poor land in Pa Long, Lao Cai province in northern Vietnam, sweet corn grown for a company by eight ethnic-minority households yielded 15 tonnes/ha in 90 days. Contract production, in which seed, fertilizer, and technology are handed over up front and the entire crop is bought at 6,000 dong per kilogram, levels out cash income in the mountains. We read whether it could become a third candidate growing area for Japan's frozen-corn sourcing. -

In Tuyen Quang, artificial seed production lets ca chien farming stand on its own apart from wild capture
The fisheries center in Tuyen Quang province has produced more than 50,000 artificially bred fry of the premium river fish ca chien since the start of the year. By producing in-house, within the growing area, the juveniles that once depended on wild catch, the raw material for cage farming is moving toward stability. We explain the yardstick by which Japanese sourcing assesses a growing area. -

Pepper for the EU faces 565 residue items: the upstream design that Lam Dong's 986 organic hectares passed
Black pepper for the EU faces a wall of 565 pesticide-residue items. The Hoang Nguyen cooperative in Lam Dong has obtained organic (USDA, EU, JAS) certification on 195.6 of its 986 hectares and exports from them. A JAS-compliant growing region becomes, for Japanese sourcing, a raw material that does not get stopped at inspection.
