It is also a multicultural province where many Khmer people live.

Features of agriculture

The province is known nationwide as a producer of high-quality rice led by ST25. Annual rice output is about 2 million tonnes. Shrimp farming thrives along the coast, and a "shrimp-and-rice" rotation system that turns the saltwater-affected areas to advantage is drawing attention. This system—farming shrimp in the dry season and growing rice in the rainy season—is internationally recognized as a successful example of climate change adaptation.

Main agricultural products

Rice (ST25 and other high-quality varieties, about 2 million tonnes/year), shrimp (whiteleg and black tiger), longan, onion, garlic

Related Articles

Ranking comparison of the world's shrimp-farming countries

Top 10 ranking of Vietnam's agricultural export value

Complete guide to the seasonal calendar of Vietnamese fruit

The Complete Guide to Vietnam's Farm-Produce Quality-Control Standards

Reference information and source links

Wikipedia (Japanese) - Soc Trang Province

General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO)

Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD)

Mekong River Commission (MRC)

FAO Fisheries Division

International Rice Research Institute (IRRI)

[1,14,90,93,86,22
12,160,6,203,11,30
267
257
post-993","region","type-region","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-vietnam-agri","category-mekong-delta","category-aquaculture","category-region-info","category-grains-rice","category-export","tag-shrimp","tag-soc-trang","tag-vietnam","tag-climate-change","tag-rice","tag-export","crop_category-region-area","harvest_season-year-round
["GET
