Centered on the province's Van Yen district, about 80,000 hectares of cinnamon forest spread out, and annual output accounts for about 40% of Vietnam's total. This cinnamon, known as \"cassia,\" is highly regarded in the Western spice market.<\/p>\n<p>The terraced fields of the Mu Cang Chai district are also known as one of the most beautiful terraced landscapes in Vietnam, and have been named by National Geographic as one of the \"most beautiful terraced fields in the world.\"<\/p>\n<h2>Features of agriculture<\/h2>\n<p>Cinnamon cultivation is the pillar of Yen Bai's agriculture. Essential oil can be extracted not only from the bark of the cinnamon tree but also from its branches and leaves, making it versatile. In recent years, GI (geographical indication) registration has advanced, and the branding of \"Van Yen cinnamon\" is being pursued.<\/p>\n<p>Rice farming on terraced fields continues as the traditional agriculture of ethnic minorities, and \"Mu Cang Chai terrace rice\" is adding value as organic rice.
