With beautiful coastlines including Cat Ba Island, it is a region where fisheries are thriving. The Lach Huyen deep-water port, which opened in 2018, is the only port facility in the north where large container ships can dock directly, and its importance as an agricultural export hub is growing.<\/p>\n<p>Industrialization is advancing rapidly, but in the suburbs rice cultivation and aquaculture are still important industries. Shrimp farming in coastal and estuarine areas and offshore fishing support the economy.<\/p>\n<h2>Features of agriculture<\/h2>\n<p>Hai Phong's agriculture is centered on fisheries. Aquaculture is thriving around Cat Ba Island and along the Do Son peninsula coast, producing shrimp, crab, and bivalves. Inland, paddy rice cultivation is carried out, with two crops a year being standard.<\/p>\n<p>Vegetable cultivation is also thriving in the Kien An and An Duong districts, where suburban agriculture serving the Hanoi market has developed. The Tien Lang district is also known as a lychee producing area.<\/p>\n<h2>Main agricultural products<\/h2>\n<p>Seafood (shrimp, crab, shellfish), rice, vegetables, lychee (Tien Lang district), flowers<\/p>\n<h2>Exports and logistics<\/h2>\n<p>The Lach Huyen deep-water port is the key to agricultural exports from northern Vietnam. Exports of coffee, cashew nuts, rice, and more pass through here.
